Lab member Fei Huang has used AI challenges facing corporates to create engaging ‘sandbox’ experiences for students. In such experiences, students work on projects or case-studies supplied by partners. Recent examples include:  

• Predicting building claims costs in small businesses across Australia and suggest appropriate occupation groupings/clusters (with Suncorp, 140+ students enrolled)  

• Predicting claims inflation for commercial auto insurance pricing (with IAG, 380+ students enrolled)  

• Multi-coverage claim modelling for insurance packaged products (with IAG, 160+ students enrolled) 

Playground X is a UNSW Business AI Lab project to explore new learning experiences powered by AI.  

For example, one component of Playground X, is a system called ClassChat. It offers a novel interface for a large class to simultaneously collaborate with a Chat-GPT like system. Students can see and build upon each other's ideas and questions. It also enhances in-class discussions by using Chat-GPT to interactively share initial responses, so that the lecturer and other students can build upon or delve deeper during class.
